NOHO Design District: Lindsey Adelman

Finally, in what concludes our New York Design Week coverage, we leave you with an amazing light sculpture by Lindsey Adelman. Burst is a chandelier with hand-blown glass spikes rolled in gold and glass barnacles attached with cast brass stamen. It's a gorgeous piece in person.

That's it from us - have a great weekend and we hoped you enjoyed the Design Week coverage!

ICFF: Nervous System

I finally got to see Nervous System's new line of light fixtures in person - they are so gorgeous, and the shadows they cast are amazing. The lamps are 3-D printed in nylon. The Seed Lamp is above, and the Hyphae Lamps, below.

ICFF: Emerald Faerie

Emerald Faerie makes these incredibly intricate lights out of chain, crystal, and magnifying glass. It was the magnifying glasses that caught my eye - a playful element that is carefully placed to highlight some of the finer fixture details.

Oh, and Fiona matched her light fixtures!

ICFF: Ali Saivoshi

Ali Saivoshi's candle desk lamp was a fun find - candles are screwed in like light bulbs - a nice twist on the traditional lamp.

ICFF: Molo Design - Hobo Lantern

Molo launched the Hobo Lantern this year - a bag/light or "portable luminary inspired by urban nightlife". The bag can be plugged in, or can be powered with batteries. It is lit with an energy-efficient LED light source that glows through a delicate pattern of translucent fibers.

ICFF: Tom Dixon

Tom Dixon launched the amazing Etch light fixture - an acid etched pendant light inspired by the logic of pure mathematics, and etched from brass sheets. I love it, especially when it's displayed in clusters!

ICFF: LZF-Lamps

Pretty light fixtures by LZF-Lamps. The Totem light and the Armadillo light.

NOHO Design District: The Future Perfect

The Noho Design District had some great exhibitions this year, including this one at The Future Perfect. The show featured work by Lindsey Adelman, Gabriela Artigas, Matt Gagnon, Lara Knutson, Rich Brilliant Willing, Donna Wilson, and more.

My absolute favorite from the show was Lara Knutson's Reflective series - especially the pendant, which features an LED light that through an optical illusion look like a traditional incandescent lightbulb. The lampshade is made out of a reflective glass fabric that is made up of microscopic glass beads which magnify light 100 times. The effect is pretty amazing.

Lara used the same reflective material in a series of vases and jewelry, but it was hard to get photos that did the pieces justice.

Mark Moskovitz's Log Facecord Cabinet.

Loved the three-dimensional appearance of Sylvain Willenz's Slide Mirror.

Hang On, by Jade Barnes-Richardson for Normann Copenhagen. A coat rack made up of a jumble of coat hangers.

Rich Brilliant Willing's Timberly Hall Rack - made of solid ash or walnut, with two steel, three aluminum and three brass movable pegs.

ICFF: Graypants

Graypants debuted the Slice Cafe + Dining Chairs at ICFF this year. Three chairs can be made from one sheet of plywood, and the only waste created is sawdust. The chair is finished with low-VOC coat that is a byproduct of cheese.

While I saw several products like this at ICFF, I appreciate that Graypants' commitment to sustainable production extends to their whole collection. For their Scrap light fixtures, they apparently hire homeless folks in Seattle to collect cardboard, which they then laser cut to create the light fixture.

AlessiLux Lamps

AlessiLux lamps are pretty pricey (~40+ euros!), but they are so good looking. Designed to be the focus of the light fixture themselves, the lamps are nicely designed.

Collective Paper Aesthetics - Confusions Candle Holders

Pretty candle holders by Collective Paper Aesthetics. The Confusions series comes in aluminum, stainless steel, and painted metal, and you fold them to create the candle shape that you want. The photos don't really give a sense of the scale of the candle holders - wouldn't they also make a really cool large-scale sculpture, or outdoor light fixtures?

Boettcher + Henssler - Mantis Lamp

Love the gorgeous and minimal Mantis lamp by Boettcher + Henssler, especially the colored cord and stand paired with the wood elements.

Teruhiro Yanagihara - Chords Lamp

The Chords lamp by Teruhiro Yanagihara is a very simple, geometric fixture. It is designed around two steel disks that are bent at the chord line, creating a multifaceted lampshade that changes as you view it from different angles.

Paola Pivi

This is cool - it's like the katamari of miniature design chairs. The chandelier/artwork was created by Paola Pivi, out of a bunch of miniature chair replicas produced by Vitra.

Christian Flindt - Lightblock Chair

I'm intrigued by Christian Flindt's Lightblock Chair - a traditional form hidden within a blocky form, which is only exposed through light.

5.5 Designers' Fire Kit is a fun light fixture that mimics a campfire.

Hommin - Sketch Lamp

I featured Hommin's Favorite Things lamp yesterday, but wanted to share one other project with you - the Sketch Lamp, which is both a lamp and a light box. This would have been handy in architecture studio, for sure!

Hommin - Favorite Thing

Favorite Thing, by Hommin, is a pendant lamp that incorporates and displays your most treasured objects. I am imagining mini-object dioramas! So fun!

Something From Us - Pendant Wired Lamp

Love this new Pendant Wired Lamp by Something From Us. The form is simple and classic, and the materials and construction, modern. The pendant comes in black or white, with four brightly colored diffusers which allow you to create your own look. So pretty!

The Standard + KAWS - Limited Edition Lightbulbs

The Standard partnered with KAWS to release a limited edition set of three lightbulbs, featuring KAWS' signature XX mark as the bulb's filament in red, purple and green. 1,000 sets were released yesterday, and rumor has it that they are sold out already, although they still seem to be available on The Standard's website.

Jean brought over a set to our place yesterday, so I got to play with them, and they are very cool - check out her photos of the unboxing on Notcot.
