Visiondivision - Rapid Palace

Visiondivision sent us their Rapid Palace project, and while I think the renderings could use a little more work, I really like the idea behind the project - creating a "palace" through the inverse/negative space created by the planting of fast growing Salix (Swedish bamboo). The "palace" is made up of a series of different halls/volumes and paved with varying ground materials, to create an active playground. Some of the halls have educational purposes, enabling classes to be held outside when the weather permits.

Visiondivision's desire was to transform an uninspiring school lot into a schoolyard that catered to the kids' imaginations. They imagine that in 25 years the Salix could be harvested for fuel or for furniture material.

  1. It is almost like the kids had designed it for themselves, making a whole new world, which I think is great! Playgrounds should be fun and inspiring just like this project.Cheers!
