Lippi Selk Bag
I came across the Lippi Selk Bag in an issue of Backpacker this past weekend. Instead of a sleeping bag, you would use one of these insulated suits to sleep in to allow more freedom in sleeping positions. The temperature ratings are for moderate to cool weather. It would be fun to wear one of these for a snowball fight, you'd feel like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

ingenious!
ReplyDeleteI've often wondered why there has not been any advancement in sleeping bag science, finally - a breakthrough!
ReplyDeleteI hate to be the naysayer here but it seems like a standard sleeping bag or even a blanket would beat out the insulation properties on their bags. notice on their website they don't list the temperature ratings and when you click the "more information" button, it just takes you to a smaller page with the name of the bag. no extra info there. but i guess good for them to capitalize on a good design. even if the info is a bit lacking. would want to keep your arms and legs together for colder weather anyway. that's why standard sleeping bags are just that, a tube with a zipper.
ReplyDeleteClaustrophobiiiiiiiic.
ReplyDeleteThey look like jawas in the star wars, you know those little creatures whol sell droids.
ReplyDeleteNot very smart though. Your arms and legs will freeze much easier since they do not seem to get any of the heat emitting from your upper body. That's what keeps you warm in a sleeping bag, all the heat emitting from your body is isolated by the bag in the same space and your upper body is warming your legs and arms.
ReplyDeleteThey should put some animal ears, like rabbit or bear ears, on the hoods. They'll sell zillions to furries who want to know what it's like to sleep outside under a tree.
ReplyDeletenot to be rude, but how do you adjust umm yourself, while sleeping in this?
ReplyDeleteDecreased warmth issues aside, how does it "allow more freedom in sleeping positions", anyways? The only difference I can imagine is that my legs would have to be split, curling would be harder, and I wouldn't be able to wrap my arms around myself very easily.
ReplyDeleteI think 'netters are become a bit too turned on by novelty, nowadays...
If I could wear sleeping bags at all without overheating in the first place, though, I'd love it. Wintercoat++?
should be distributed to all homeless persons...
ReplyDeleteYay! Duvet suits... at last.
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend has one of these, and they're great fun. They do keep you just as warm as a sleeping bag.
ReplyDeletehow do you unzip yourself?
ReplyDeleteHey, people, look at what it says. "The temperature ratings are for moderate to cool weather." You shouldn't need to worry about warmth that much in that weather!
ReplyDeleteI think there is a market for everything.
ReplyDeleteSomeone will find value in this if not you!!
