Lamy Smile

Lamy is a German company that makes great modern pens. The pen shown is the new Lamy Smile, designed by German design firm Phoenix Design.

Lamy has always made very clean and modern writing instruments. The Smile is a more playful take on the fountain pen and uses a series of emoticon rings to relay personal codes and messages.

  1. I purchased two Uni-Ball Signo 207 Pens from my College Bookstore. After a quick test of the pens on my notebook I thought it would be a good pen. The next day during class it came time to put the pens to the test and see how well they perform. The results speak for themselves. They are literally the Worst Pens I have ever purchased. I could not complete a sentence without having the pen skip. It got to the point that I had to switch to a basic Bic Ball Point Pen.

Bottom line if you don’t mind having to go over your writing to correct any letters and add letter’s to complete words due to the skipping then you might find this pen ok.

  2. I have a Mont Blanc Meisterstuck 144 that’s twenty + years old. It has a 18c nib and is a great fountain pen. Of course it’s well worn in but it’s large, comfortable, never leaks and is a design classic (although common nowadays). I also use a Parker 75 (sterling silver) which is also very good. Bought it on Ebay. Another nice pen is the Aurora Hastil. It’s a bit hard to find but it’s one of the few pens in the permanent collection at MOMA. It’s very minimal and elegant. Has a white gold nib.
