The Working Proof: Sam Caldwell - Minor Man

Sam Caldwell is an amazingly talented 19-year-old illustrator and artist. He is currently studying  illustration at the Edinburgh College of Art. His work has a strong sense of English gloom to it, using gritty textures and washed out, dulled colours. He enjoys painting portraits and often chooses subjects who evoke a sense of solitude and melancholy - themes which run throughout his work. This piece is called Minor Man, and is based around the lyrics of a song by Alex Hough. It is about the realization of a missed opportunity and the loss of certainty. Each print sold will benefit the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation.

This holiday season, The Working Proof is dedicated to giving more to our charities. We are kicking off a holiday initiative - each week between now and mid-December, we are featuring one of our charities, and increasing the percentage donated from 15% to 20% for all prints supporting the organization. This week our featured charity is the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation, so buy Sam's print (or Katie Kirk's awesome Alice print) and we will donate 20% to the MHOF!

Buy the print here and read our interview with Sam here.
