I still cannot get over how incredible the NYPL Archives are. Above are two pieces from the The Buttolph Collection of Menus, which ranges from 1851-2008. Left is the Daily Dinner Menu at the St. Nicholas Hotel (1866) and right is the The Holborn Restaurant (1881).
The collection was digitized and put online as part of the NYPL Digital Gallery and is absolutely worth taking a browse through.
