OMA recently unveiled their designs for a 24-story residential tower in NYC near Madison Square Park. The tower counter-intuitively grows in size and steps out as you go up in stories, cantilevering thirty feet over the neighboring building. According to Rem Koolhaas, "Mirroring the traditional New York setback, the building's form is at once familiar and distinctive. The form provides a number of unexpected moments that appear at each step – balconies at the upper part of the building and floor windows at the lower part—providing a variety of unit types and features throughout the building." I want to know how they got this passed by the stickler DOB! The building is scheduled for completion in 2010.

Wow, what an interesting design! It reminds me the game Jenga. I would love to live here!
