José Antonio Gurrola from the NEL collective sent over their latest project earlier this week - the Global Warming rug, which "contrasts the comfort and softness of a rug with a thorny problem that is specific to our time." Oh...the little polar bear looks so lonesome!
what a sad, but comical piece! i like this guy's message.
ReplyDeleteWhat does this carpet tell us? Nani Marquina´s contribution to the global warming. Some symbols need to be added: Ships, trucks and airplanes;
ReplyDeletethe routes of transportation of the wool from New Zealand to India; the carpet from India to Spain, from Spain to the rest of the world.
It rather makes the problem worse than good.
Nanimarquina is only pushing up her fame and fortune at the expenses of others.

Hey anonymous,
ReplyDeletewhat are you doing about it? Its called awareness and it counts and its a beautifully clear and concise design both theoretically and aesthetically. I agree with your point, but would you prefer the rug was all red? Don't bug the people who are at least trying to get the environment engrained into our brains.
I think its time to put all the anonymous people in a bucket on the edge of an iceberg.
i think it is beutiful concept no matter what brand is it.
ReplyDeleteimmagin the little bear in the living room, trying to survive the footsteps...
